Poets vs Gender Inequality

6:30 pm - 11:00 pm

The Poetry Café
22 Betterton St, London, WC2H 9BX

We are back with another phenomenal night of performance poetry, this time in support of UN Women, the newest UN agency, driving forward the global movement for gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls. The finest poets of all genders have come together to stand up to gender inequality in all its forms including harassment, violence, unequal pay and unequal rights.

Poets Versus is a literary platform for emerging and established poets tackling social injustice and promoting equality. Each round will address a specific social issue: gender inequality, racism, ableism, mental health stigma, transphobia, xenophobia, poverty, animal cruelty, homophobia, to name a few.

Alongside our live events at The Poetry Café, performing poets will be included in an anthology published by Tonic Sta Press.

A free copy of the anthology will be included in the ticket price, with additional copies available for £3. All proceeds will go to charity.

UN Women is the global organisation for gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls. Founded in 2010, the UN agency works at every level, from working with governments to change policy and legislation, to empowering leaders to drive community change, to delivering grassroots programmes on the ground. Whether it is working to ensure equal political representation of women and girls, or working to end violence and sexual harassment, UN Women works with many organisations, from the corporate to creative sector, to highlight key issues in the UK and across the world, and work together to change the way the world works for women.
